CT Scan

CT Scan

CT (Computerised Tomography) is a widely used type of imaging. There can be lots of reasons that a GP or Specialist might refer you for a CT Scan.

You will be asked to lie on a table and positioned so that the area of your body that is being scanned is in the best possible position. The table will move you automatically through the scanner. The scan itself is very short, usually taking only a few minutes.

When the scanning is complete a sophisticated computer software programme is used by the MRT to process the images into formats that allow the Radiologist to 'read' them.
